Restaurants & Entertainment
Wazee Supper Club, 1600 15th Street (303.623.9518)
Step back into Denver's LoDo history at the Wazee Supper Club. At the classic corner location you can down a few frosty ones while eating pizza, burgers, sandwiches, and more. Pepperoni, buffalo, pesto, pastrami - you have a lot of room to choose from on the Wazee Supper Club's menu. Our favorite is the pizza: thin, fresh crust, rich, red tomato sauce and lots of toppings!
Jax Fish House, 1539 17th Street (303.292.5767)
This little seafood restaurant at the corner of Wazee and 17th Street is only open in the evenings, for happy hour and dinner. Although it can be a little pricey and crowded at times, you're bound to appreciate the fresh seafood: shell fish are their specialty (oysters, anyone?).
Denver Chop House and Brewery, 1735 19th Street (303.296.0800)
This is the quintessential meat and potatoes place. It's relatively expensive, but the food, the drinks nor the service will disappoint. The restaurant is crowded on most nights, so be sure to make a reservation. This place is dark and clubby; the beers are brewed in-house and the potatoes come mashed with Parmesan cheese. Yum!
Wynkoop Brewing Company, 1634 18th Street (303.297.2700)
Established in 1988, this brewpub is acclaimed to be the largest in the world. Serving some of the freshest and richest beers, the have become a reference point for the rest of Denver both in the quality of their thirst quenchers as well as locator in the City. With a billiards hall upstairs and delectable foods with fresh, more rustic flavors, Wynkoop is excellent for any size group of friends.
The Pepsi Center, Auraria Parkway and Speer Boulevard
The new Pepsi Center, stretching across 52 acres of Denver land, is officially open and ready to become the host to numerous extraordinary sporting and musical events. Home to the Denver Nuggets basketball and Avalanche hockey teams, this arena is a flashy and modern addition to Denver's Downtown. The Pepsi Center promises to become a local landmark and true Denver fixture for years to come.
Colorado's Ocean Journey, 700 Water Street (303.561.4450)
The splashiest grand opening this year belongs to the fabulous new aquarium in the heart of Denver. Colorado's Ocean Journey is open as of Monday, June 21. Colorado's Ocean Journey features a million gallons of water and about 15,000 animals. There are hundreds of exhibits featuring creatures and plants from all over the globe. There are fresh and salt-water displays, and scenes from the Sea of Cortez, the Pacific Ocean, the Kampar River of Indonesia, and the Colorado River as well.
Coors Field, 2001 Blake Street (303.762.5437)
Opened in 1995, this 50,249-seat stadium's altitude may be tough on pitchers, but the centerpiece of LoDo is easy on fans, with its majestic view of the Rockies, club level section (where seats are wider than normal and waiters and waitresses provide individual service), and the famous Rockpile - centerfield bleachers that offer a low-cost way to catch a ball game. You're guaranteed to have plenty of company here; regular season attendance is among the highest in the Major Leagues.
Denver Center for the Performing Arts Complex (DCPA), 1245 Champa Street (303.893.4100)
A building worth noting for its architectural flare and varied performing arts offerings. Attend a play, the symphony or dance performance. There are plenty of other restaurants within the area that would make your night complete. This sprawling facility also offers workshops and training in the dramatic and musical arts. For students of all levels, the DCPA provides a wide range of classes from acting to screen writing.
